Use the storage option capacity to purchase your winter requirements in the summer when gas prices are usually the lowest. It provides a hedge against winter spikes in gas prices and provides a more even monthly energy budget which assures reliable supplies during severe cold temperatures. Dependent on your local distribution company and your volume, storage can be purchased from a minimal volume to 100% of your total load for the months of November through March.
